PRICING

Services and pricing

Most work is quoted at a fixed price. You are given the figure before the work begins, and it does not change. If the work runs longer than estimated, the additional cost is mine.

Some work cannot be defined in advance. Diagnosing a problem with no evident cause is the common example. Work of that kind is billed at $75 per hour, and I confirm with you before hourly billing begins.

SERVICE AREA

WHERE I WORK

On-site across Northern Virginia, with no travel charge to any town listed here. If your town is not listed and you are nearby, ask. Remote support is available anywhere, and a good deal of this work does not require me to be in the room.

TERMS

HOW PAYMENT WORKS

Work quoted above $300 takes a 50 percent deposit, with the balance due on completion. Work at or below $300 is paid on completion. The deposit is in the quote, so you see it before you agree to anything.

Troubleshooting is different, because neither of us knows the cause at the start. That work is hourly, takes no deposit, and I tell you before the meter starts. If I cannot fix it, you pay for the time I spent diagnosing and nothing further, and I tell you who can.

If I quote a fixed price and then cannot complete the work, the deposit is returned in full. I only quote fixed on work I already know I can do, so this should not come up. It is worth saying anyway.

I accept cash, check, Zelle, PayPal, Apple Pay, and credit or debit cards.
